New page

At Noon Monday September 2nd "Labor Day" 2002 the newly appointed CEO of Of Consolidated Freightways announces to his terminal managers during a nationwide confernce call that the company was filing for Chapter 11 Bankrupsy as he spoke, and would, as a result, close down all freight operations in the US 48 states as of 8:00am when the last of the union employees left work to get some sleep and then enjoy Labor Day festivities with their families. [[OrlandoSentinalArticle]] Today 17,500 people are on the street and internet or where-ever they need to assure thier families that there will be food on the table next week.

*Listen to the [[PhoneMessage]] from the CF CEO.

Well, all I can say is that I have really enjoyed working at CF for the last 15 years. My family has never once heard me complain. I worked as hard and as diligently as I possibly could. That job was literally an answer to prayer. Upon leaving New Jersey in 1986 I had decided to go blue-collar and let the teamsters union worry about my job security. It was a great plan, the Lord blessed me with success. Now He has other plans for me. I am so excited to see what He has in store for me. I will keep you-all informed. --BillScarver
Bill, good luck wishes (if one can say that) from me too. Hope it doesn't take long before you find the start of the next track. --JamesCrook.
