New page

There are information explosions that happen when order emerges from
chaos. These can happen in any dimension of organization. Our universe
is one. These tend to go toward equilibrium, cooling, slowing. The
condense into organization on larger scales of size and complexity as
they cool, where the complexity is too great chaos emerges becoming
random noise where order can emerge and the cycle begins again.

Size and time are relative so the process is continuous and we never
reach absolute zero.

The magic of creativity of evolutionary systems makes it impossible to
determine if our information era will ever end. We know is starts with
the unseem vacuum energy which is the noise of the prior information
cycle, recycled, to manifests ourselves and our world.
------
In information physics dimensions are the same as
properties. In the quantum, the entities are composed of discrete
differences in some number of dimensions. Of course these differences
need not manifest our perception of the dimensions of space or time, necessarily. But it
turns out that interactions do manifest themselves ar being space
(light, distance, time independence, energy) like or time (particle,
point, mass) like, discriminating our perception of the dimensionality
of our universe.

There is no such thing as nothing in any number of dimensions.
Space is made of energy in three dimensions approximately, but it is a bent.
The furthest point in every direction we see the big bang.
There is no outside of the expansion of spacetime, only the inside is
manifest.
Space bends and flows as mass dictates independent of any dimensional grid.
The interior of a black hole is MUCH vaster than it's exterior dimension.
Atoms are at least four dimensional in that they also exhibit inner
dimension.

Space is not like electro-magnetic waves, instead it manifests
electro-magnetic waves and is composed of neutrinos and electro-magnetic
waves. Calling them waves is a bit misleading as they are not waves or
particles. Electrons of like spin exchange momentum in discrete amounts
manifesting in aggregate what we call the electric field, but it is all
interaction of pairs of electrons, not little influences of one electron
on many others. Electrons of opposite spin do not interact. They
happily occupy the same state (of transmit each other rather than
reflecting). Spin 'up' state space, and 'down' space are discriminated
independently. If the up and down are balanced we say there is no
magnetic field. If they are unbalanced, we say there is a magnetic
field. What is actually happening in the quantum is that up space and
down space are discriminated independently, manifesting the same amount
of space is total, but more between like spin (poles) manifesting
repulsion, and none between unlike spin (poles).

The most primitive property, spin, is unlike space
or time. It is not like anything spinning either, it is more like right
or left handedness. Its value is binary from the information
perspective that is all that is relevant. The second property, charge,
is also not like space or time, in the information perspective it takes
integer values of the Plank action. The third property is similar,
color, it takes on independent integer values. Independent of any
meaning the basic properties manifest discrete differences from
nothingness that are propagated.

Propagation is by reflection or transmission of discrete differences,
100% or -100%, there is no continuous variation over time. Like spins
reflect, manifesting the events that discriminate space and time, unlike
spins transmit, propagating through each other unaffected. Interactions
only discriminate space and time in a binary manner as differences can
only be parallel or orthogonal, and can add or subtract only 100% or
zero, and because all differences are decomposable down to the Planck
action. Events involve exchange of discrete differences between exactly
2 participants with no other little effects or influences one anything else.

The illusion of a continuous 3 dimensional space is very strong in the
human psychic. Although orientation, for example, (polarization), only
manifests binary orientation, and each Plank action only discriminates
50% of possible space and time in a binary fashion, gazillions of events
together create an illusion of continuity which is contradicted by
experiment. Everything we perceive on every scale is manifest by
quantum events and the dimensionality we perceive is limited logically,
not physically in a universe which is proving to have an information nature.

The Flat Earth Society is still around because the earth is obviously
flat to them, so I expect there will always be a Flat Space Society that
believes in continuous space. Unfortunately the data, and thus Nature
herself, fails to abridge.
----
In http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/week202.html Baez writes:

"A while back, James Dolan and I noticed that since you can use power
series to describe states of the quantum harmonic oscillator, you can
think of structure types as states of a categorified version of this
physical system==== This gives new insights into the combinatorial
====
underpinnings of quantum physics."

''For example, the discrete spectrum of the harmonic oscillator Hamiltonian can be traced back to the discreteness of finite sets==== The commutation relations between annihilation and creation operators boil down to a very simple fact: there's one more way to put a ball in a box and then take one out, than to take one out and then put one in. Even better, the whole theory of Feynman diagrams gets a simple combinatorial interpretation.''
====

This furthers work in http://www.arxiv.org/abs/math.QA/0004133
From Finite Sets to Feynman Diagrams:
''There is an inner product of stuff types that makes the category of stuff types into a categorified version of the Hilbert space of the quantized harmonic oscillator. We conclude by sketching how this idea gives a nice explanation of the combinatorics of Feynman diagrams.''

This brings the relation between Schrodinger's equation and the second law
full circle. Systems tend to go from disorder (differences) to
equilibrium by undoing differences. Schrodinger's equation may be derived
from random samplings of any such system. Dolan and Baez have detailed an
actual bridge to the structure of the orderings in the quantum which are
subject to this entropy.

Baez "this week (202)" also details simple binary tree structures which
are consistent with the binary nature of discrimination, though a surreal
number interpretation I suspect may prove even simpler.
