He triumps

He triumps again in the StateOfTheUnion address 2003.

Bush is wrong

It was wrong of Bush to piss off the world just to put fear in the heart of Saddam. I thank Allah that no one is allowed him unilateral action. In theory, he can do it now, but our CollectiveIntelligence is demanding he live up to his words and bring the authority of international action down on Hussain.

The message is clear we will blow up anything he doesn't want inspected, and he will be removed from government if he gives us any excuse. Let the world act together against our common threat.

Armegeddon awaits

Sunday, September 15, 2002: Just days ago, Germany officially left our alliance leaving only England aligned with the US war on terrorism. And in England, popular opinion so sharply against Bush leaving our alliange there ineffectual. Bush's popularity in the New Yrk area, even, is so low many were speculating that he would not even get the nomination next time around. Now it seemed the US was on its own and Bush was out to defey the UN again make another lame attempt to justify why the US should be the world bully.

Something different happened. Bush seduced the world with recognition of international law. His brilliant, textbook perfect speech even seduced me into liking him for a moment.

He repeatedly demonstrated respect for the role of the UN and proclaimed that the UN must act because "Saddam's defiance is a threat to UN authority!"

How much the world has longed to hear the US stand behind the UN. We accept the the progital son so quickly back into the fold. We are all hopelessly prisoners of hope.

Yes George made a big hit and won this round fair and square. We forgive the hypocricy of the most flagerant violator of international law proclaiming its authority in the faint hope that things might really be changing and this is not just another american lie.

This land is just not ready to be civilized. Armegeddon await us. The higher intelligence is beyond our reach.

Saddam was armed and empowered by the CIA against our perceived threat in Iran in the 80's. I suppose we created him and need to take some responsibility for the harm he has caused. But I am a hopeless prisoner of hope and simply pray Bush follows his word and empowers international law over babarism. The world will be greatful.

Hawks on the rise

The support of Bush's war on Irac in light of his UN speach in the US is scarey. American hawkism is being revitalized.

We don't hate the tiger though it would have us for dinner. Many of the most magnificent human animals are killed for the social good or in our jails.

What works is good

I expected reprisals on the eleventh. Aside from two ineffectual attacks on US Afgani bases, nothing happened. Inaction is an action, perhaps we did not go too far yet. Perhaps we did use some wisdom in our actions. I am all for what works. At the same time, loosing international support in our actions changes their color from a rainbow to red, white and blue aggression.

Ominious promises

In the days after the destruction of the World Trade Center Bush made some promises that are not easy to keep, and some threats that are ominous. Should he keep his promises the threats should never need be imployed. The threat of unilateral action is necessary. Its application, however, is War, and should never be preemptive without due process. When peacful means are met with aggresion, only then may we act if inaction would clearly, by objective criteria, lead to greater destruction. Should we apply this principle religiously then no reasonable being would oppose us.

Use intelligence

The Sept 11th terrorist martyrs gave their lives to start a War. Should we have the intelligence to prove them wrong about us then the innocent martyrs of that day will not have died in vien.
