Sign up now!

I am tired of what you people are doing with AnewGo. You give comments and criticisms (these are fine, perfect for helping a society) but then 'don't become a citizen'. You have to get it in your brain that 50 signatories is 'a lot'. You want to pick at the idea of AnewGo? You want to ridicule it? Fine, then sign up for citizenship, and complain your head off.

Sign your name at the bottom of TheAnewGoDeclarationOfExistence.

Then add your information to the AnewGoCitizenRegister.

This is a simple concept, not brain surgery. If everyone who adds their comments into WikiWorld became a citizen, it would make everything easier.

Go ahead, challenge this page.

  • For 1., No one every accused me of being politically correct.
  • For 2., You know I am right.

Nothing new

I know you are wrong. How is AnewGo any different from Oceania? SpaceArk? It's not. Oceania failed because people wouldn't stay interested in it. SpaceArk is just Oceania in orbit.

AnewGo has been tried before, in various forms. It is not a new concept. None of those forms have worked. Why? People get tired of it, and lost interest.

It's all very well and good to claim to be a virtual nation, but there are tons of virtual nations out there now. They are called Clans and Guilds in the Online RPG world. You want disciples? You want people participating? Then you have to go where the people are. Join up with EverQuest, participate in a group there. And then you can get them interested in a new virtuosity. They are already familar with the concept of virtual nations, virtual communities working for the common goals.

Don't piss and moan here because you only have 3 people on your sign up sheet. Instead, you should be happy. 3 people willing to participate out of a mere 10 or 20 is fantastic turnout for the online world. Pissing and moaning just turns people off. It shows you have no patience. No patience implies nothing depending on you will be achieved if it takes work and time.

Remember, you are the embodiment of your project. Always project a strong, good, optimistic image if you want people to take you and your project seriously as something they should invest their time and ego into.

What about you?

Those 3 people happen to be KenSchry, JimScarver, and AnewGo. I may of been out of line, but the point is that 'no one is joining'. Were you planning to sign up for citizenship, StarPilot? Or would you just stay neutral? Also, yes I am familiar with clans. In the clan I run for Rainbow Six, the guys in there don't care what I say. They don't care for community. If I am good at the game, fine. Otherwise, get out now. On Oceana, at least they had people join first then lose intrest.

I will apologize for the "pissing and moaning" though.

I'm already participating!

Why should I join? I'm already a member of the WE. Heck, It looks like I'm a primary participant in AnewGo as well, it seems. ;) But that's just through active participation in the WE.

As far as AnewGo itself though... I am still trying to make sure I understand the whole thing before deciding one way or the other. I feel as if there are several captians trying to pilot this AnewGo to different ports at once. And I have yet to grasp the entirety of the full ship itself. ---StarPilot

You should join!

Why should you join? I figure, yes you are an extremely active member of the WikiWorld WE, so why not support the WikiWorld AnewGo? Seeing as new parts of AnewGo are coming on every day, new changes, I think the ship is still building itself. The 'full' concept has yet to show itself, it may never. You just have to go along with what we have now.

P.S.- Comparisons to Oceania are uncalled for.

No Worries

I'm not worried if people choose not to join, i see no problem in that, many always choose the status quo, besides i'm only interested in positive additions to the state.

Politics aren't nice

Best re-evaluate that attitude if you want to save on the Tums bills, I would think. Lots of politics are emerging. Politics don't tend to be positive. Politics are like Religion, only without any yardstick of morality (expected moral behavior) involved.

Why are the comparisons to Oceania uncalled for? I think Oceania make for an excellent comparison, as well as object lesson of history. Anyone contemplating a new country, could and should learn about Oceania and why it folded. Especially when it had more then the '50' and '1000' members. History. Learn it or repeat it. Isn't that a common quote on this site, and not just from me? ---StarPilot

Contributing, but not members

Oceania had members, at least as you said more than 1000. But my point is (and was at the beginning of this page) is that AnewGo doesn't act as other virtual states because there aren't enough citizens. The WikiWorld WE is contributing to AnewGo, but aren't becoming citizens. --KenSchry

All the net are members

Really? Everyone that has access to a computer and the net is a citizen of AnewGo. It's an opt-out defination, not an opt-in one. But, since someone is only interested in purely positive (that's agrees with their viewpoint only) additions, I've decided there isn't a place for people that think and discuss differing veiwpoints or ideas in it. If that 'My way or the highway' attitude doesn't improve, I'm willing to bet the citizen roles will roll back.

Only positive?

Interesting that you characterise "positive" additions as that are only in agreement. As consensus is reached agreement is the goal, but obviously discussion is a process. If the argument is totally oppossed to reaching any agreement, then i suppose the choice of non-participation is the only thing left.

Bad day, just venting

Discusion of AnewGo is a process in creation. I know this page was wrong, I had a bad day and blew off some steam. But there was a point to the origional question, why isn't any of the WikiWorld WE signing citizenship?

Some have signed

Some of WikiWorld has signed up.

No worries, wait for the ads!

Don't worry things are going fine, considering there is no advertising campaign in place. Things will change shortly, when the magazine ads come into play. :-)

Give it time. People are reluctant to join this sort of thing because they don't know if it will disappear. As it becomes more articulated, it will appear more stable, and there is a positive feedback loop. If it fails, it is still worthwhile, because at the least the community and perhaps some of the text can be reused in a similar effort later on. -- BayleShanks
