Our sun.

In what culture?

I think that is latin or greek. In physics groups SOL usually means SpeedOfLight.

In america, it means "Shit Out of Luck".

It is the only name ever listed in all the writings I've seen for our Sun, other then Sun. Whether in popular writing or physics papers. The fact that it is an acrynom for SpeedOfLight I've always found to be quite fitting.

The other meaning is also sometimes appropriate, I think. :-D
