DearDiary,

What WE can do to make a better world is make persistent connections. This is confirmed by NetworkTheory.

Money was never important to me. Studies consistently show that wealth, above the subsistence level has an inverse relation to contentment. Everybody thinks they are different, and that money will make them happy. But, lets face it, everybody is different but chances are, that for most of us, more money will bring more misery, not happiness.

My family was pretty well off, money was never a problem, and it was given little importance by my parents. I felt blessed that I did not suffer the slavery to materialism that imprisoned most of the people I knew.

My grandfathers last words to me were, "Get rich Jim. Get rich." He was rich, what did wealth get him? Sure he had a comfortable life, 5th Ave apartment with a doorman, but I'd be happy living in a tent, this "Get rich" thing seemed very silly to me.

Yet I always assumed that I would be wealthy, and we have always had plenty, but there is so much I want to do that I have not been able to do. My parents provided for me much better than I provided for my children. I have often wished I had enough money to build the next generation killer application, get rich, fund my own research, give more to my children, invest in the future of humanity, and never have to worry about money again.

I have been in the right place at the right time in technology but lack the business sense to make it profitable. We (EIES Legacy) have always been way ahead of the curve but failed to even get the recognition we deserve.

NetworkTheory can provide some incite into why some succeed and others don't. WE can all get rich if we make sufficient connections. How do WE do that?

  1. market our existing products effectively by building a marketing network
  # XanthusInc
  # VacationMIX (our now defunct travel site)
  1. build a network to realize any MillionDollarIdea.

Doing right is profitable.
