Crackedpot Holiday Message, The Truth of the Parable of Truth and Parable

A Chinese and Indian Parable About Cracked Pots

A water bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do. After 2 years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself because this crack in my side causes water to leak all the way back to your house."

The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."

Moral: Each of us has our own unique flaws. We're all cracked pots. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are, and look for the good in them.

Blessings to all my crackpot friends

I stumbled on this parable while seeking a different parable of Jesus, which turned out to be in the gospel of Thomas.

97 The Father's kingdom is like a woman who was carrying a pot full of grain. While she was walking along a distant road, the handle of the jar broke and the meal spilled behind her along the road. She didn't know it; she hadn't noticed a problem. When she reached her house, she put the jar down and discovered that it was empty."

In fellowship, my friend Nancy lamented, why does God allow the world to be so flawed, why must we suffer. I answered that we chose original sin, we ate from the tree of knowledge, and the taste of knowledge allowed us to make choices, and suffer the consequences of those actions. My own father gave me great freedom, such that I might learn by the consequences and take responsibility for my actions. And so it is with our father in heaven.

In Gods kingdom, without knowledge or forethought, seeds are planted and grain grows all along the distant road. Yet it is interesting that it was a flaw in the pot that allows this to be.

The latest crackedpot theory is the end of the world on December 21, 2012. I turn 62 on that day and could semi retire on my pension at that time if the world does not end. All though history the crackpots have proclaimed the time is near. And this is actually the dawning of the age of Aquarius.

It is said that Nostradamus suggested and the Mayans call this the end of an era. December 21, 2012 is the time of a coming solar minimum 11 year cycle and approximate 25,000 cycle suggested to cause a reversal or fluctuation of the suns magnetic field of unpredictable nonlinear effect that most often is coincident with the dawning of an ice age, except in the presents an excess of greenhouse gasses, according to some scientists. It is also coincident with the alignment of the sun with the galactic center which some say could disrupt the earths magnetic field axis of rotation. An aligned precession of Saturn, Venus and Mercury herald the rising sun, the biblical true morning star, as it was in the beginning of the age. http://www.artideas.com/Why2012/Dec2120120311.JPG

In the new era, like a mustard seed, or a bit of leaven, the meaning will emerge as the reign of darkness becomes the reign of light according to Western, Eastern, and Mesoamerican scripture. The possible significance of the symbology of the snake or serpentine associations with the new era and the alignment with the galactic center can be seen as the analog of the structure of the universe and the brain. http://www.whitescarver.com/albums/InfoPhysics/GodsBrain.jpg

I found it surprising that the new age is to be ruled by the Mayan Quetzalcoatl or Christian Jesus Christ, who share being God in the form of a man born of a virgin birth, at the winter solstice, was sacrificed and resurrected three days later. It is surprising how many religious figures share many of these and other traits with Jesus. They include, Dionysus/Bacchus, Horus, Tammuz, Krishna, Zarathustra, Mithras, Buddha, Lao Zi, Attis, Heracles, Odin, Karna, Adonis, and Prometheus. See http://www.wilsonsalmanac.com/jesus_similar1.html

Many use the similarity of these stories to prove they are all false, but it might also suggest they are all true in the spiritual sense, as god speaks to us in parables. It is reasonable to assume God would reveal the same truths to all civilizations.

Matthew 13:34-35

V34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake He not unto them: V35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet [Esaias], saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

In a sense, as all mathematical and scientific truth is by analogy, it may be that all spiritual truth is metaphorical.

The Parable of Truth and Parable - Yiddish Folktale

Once, two beautiful women names Truth and Parable lived together on the outskirts of town. Each thought herself the most attractive, so they quarreled and argued until they finally decided to have a contest: whoever attracted the most attention while walking through the village would be considered the most attractive.

On the appointed day, they walked to the edge of the village and Truth decided to go first. She was confident that everyone seeks Truth and wants to know Truth, so she began to walk through the village, smiling and greeting people as she went. To her chagrin, everyone began to move back inside their houses, glancing suspiciously over their shoulders. As she reached the far side of the village, only a few people still stood outside their houses. Fearing that she would lose the contest, she decided to attract as much attention as possible, so she threw off her clothing and walked back through the town wearing nothing at all. Surely now she would attract lots of attention.

The remaining people, however, saw her coming and scuttled into their houses, closed their doors, and closed their shutters, so that when she returned to Parable, the village appeared deserted. Hanging her head in shame, Truth told Parable that it was her turn.

Parable walked quietly into town, and as she passed, people began to come out of their houses, smiling and chatting together. They followed Parable through the streets, talking happily with her. By the time she had returned to Truth, the entire village was in the streets. Truth looked at Parable in confusion and defeat. "Why is it," she asked, "that people flock to your side but spurn me? . . . Do people no longer value Truth?"

"Ah," sighed Parable comfortingly. "People do still love Truth, but they do not like the naked truth. If you wish people to accept you, you must clothe yourself in the mantle of story. Only then will people be able to accept and understand you." And with that, Parable took off her multi-colored robe and draped it around the shoulders of Truth, and when the two returned to the village, the people found that they did, indeed, still love Truth.

The truth is both wonderful and horrific. So we like it dressed up.

No one, for example, likes to admit we are ruled by the money masters. and that false history and science, human hardship, suffering, and war is engineered, in no small part, by them for their own selfish ends. If we allow ourselves to learn the truth, we see that this age has indeed been ruled by a great deceiver. And we have been party to it, as we allow it to happen and do not seek to change it.

Few admit that the classical foundations of human logic and mathematics have been contradicted in the last century. The very notion of absolute truth proves to be false within mathematics itself by Godel incompleteness and by the universe itself by the nature of quantum truth. It turns out that parable or analogy is the best we can do and for every thing we think is true there is a greater truth. Truth as humanity envisioned it is a delusion.

Humanity is still in denial of these things. for me the new age, means the end of the reign of darkness with belief in false truth and the beginning of the era of light with holistic, evolving complete truth.

The truth is that there are no simple answers and complete truth cannot fit in the human mind. The new age, starting December 21, 2012, or whenever we draw the line in the sands of time, will be the liberation of humanity, from the limits of the brain, with the rising of the machine.

I may be a cracked pot, but I believe my view will be vindicated when the new age arrives, whenever that may be. It may be the end of the world as we knew it, but it is the beginning of a much better world where the meek inherit the earth and we populate the galaxy and beyond with unprecedented freedom and wealth.

Happy holidays to all!

Jim
