To be in any business we need a team to carry it out. I am always having business ideas that never go anywhere. Perhaps this group can be an idea factory and actually do one or more of the ideas. This is one of my older and most favorite ideas. I love the islands==== Count me in!

St. Thomas was granted to America on the condition that it remain a duty free port. Although there is a $2000 limit it still represents a golden opportunity due to a 35% savings in import duties.

e.g. "Pick up your fully eequippedstate-of-the-art laptop or handheld in St. Thomas and fly free====" or "Vacation in St. Thomas and get a free laptop!)

Many business professionals get a budget for a laptop, an informal survey I performed indicates they would all take the free trip.

We can get bulk air fares and special hotel deals to maximize profits. (XanthusInc did all the online vacation package bookings for Liberty Travel, Gogo Worldwide Vacations (wholesalers), and many others for four years. Packaging saves money).

We can distribute through existing computer merchants who will take low margins for the up sell opportunity.

Low cost help, if needed, is available through computer science students at the university of the virgin islands.

Anybody want to go to St. Thomas and hold up that end of the business?

> What is the cost of a flight,

$400 to $800, we have potential sources for good fairs and unpublished pricing. e.g. vacationmix.com is ours. We should be able to get a $2500 system for about $1200 or less cost.

> and what brand laptops are we talking about.

OEM (orig equip manufacturer) the same laptops sold by the big guys buy off brand, we can put our own brand on them. The best prices are from Korea, China and Taiwan

This project needs a gimmick. Some schmamboozle idea that will get people to talk about it to everyone they know. The whole concept of a free ticket to paradise is compelling already but it just lacks a certain something. Maybe we could set up a training session for how to make their new computer an extension of themselves. Move them past word processing and email and into real knowledge applications. This could be offered as an extra package. --DavidSiegel
