MailingListManagement
Your XanthusInc account includes majordomo mailing list capabilities. Here are some hints to get started quickly.
Create majordomo mailing list:
- log into the brain: http://cc.xanthus.net
* domain: yourdomain.com * userid: yourusername (be aware that many brain function are restricted to the yourdomain master account) * password: your email/unix password
- choose "Setup and configure mailing lists"
- choose "Create mailing list"
* Mailing list name: pbsNewsName * Owner's email address: yourusername@yourdomain.com * Mailing list password: anyPassword * Check moderated and Closed for a newsletter type mailing list so that no one else can post without approval.
- Most functions can now be done using commands by email majordomo@yourdomain.com Their is a manual at http://colossus.net/dedman.majordomo.shtml or the majordomo home page at http://www.greatcircle.com/majordomo/
- add a few email addresses of associates and practice using the list.
- loading an complete of email addresses from a database or spreadsheet:
# export a flat file of email addresses to a flat text file . # ftp to your home directory (file transport protocol) ftp://yourusername@yourdomain.com/.. # enter your password # drag and drop (or copy and paste) file from pc to yourdomain screen (b) to the ftp window # rename the file to the name of your mailing list. # use the brain (http://cc.xanthus.net) to upload mailing list (subscribers list) from /home/yourusername
