UsVersusThem

From WikiWorld

Strangely enough, this is often referred to as the UsAndThem mentality here at WikiWorld.

Us Versus Them is a common way of a minority group of the WE to band together to better strive against views that disagree or are in opposition to the "Us". Found to be an extremely common behavioral mechanism in any perceived confrontational setting. It tends to be very binary in outlook, as you are either with Us (ie a part of the solution), or you are with Them (ie a part of the problem).

It would seem illogical to think that competition can be separated from conflict. Perhaps more important than wishing away conflict is agreeing on ground rules.
